The use of loose rings (water snaffle) allows for independent movement in the horse's mouth in combination with the double-jointed mouthpiece, which distributes the pressure evenly over the tongue, resulting in a less harsh impact on the palate.

The mouthpiece of this bit is 14 mm thick and has large rings starting at size 12,5 cm. Sizes 9,5, 10,5, and 11,5 cm come with smaller rings suitable for ponies.

Sweet Iron stimulates salivation in horses, which increases their acceptance. The blue-colored Sweet Iron material oxidizes with use, releasing a slightly sweet flavor that encourages horses to accept the bit more readily.
